Louisiana may matter after all
The common thought was that the Louisiana primary was far to late to matter and that the Democratic choice would be selected by then. However, according to the AP:
The race for delegates is so close in both parties that it is mathematically impossible for any candidate to lock up the nomination on Feb. 5, according to an Associated Press analysis of the states in play that day.
While the article doesn’t list Louisiana as being one of the important states (since larger states have primaries after Super Tuesday), the door is open for some strategic campaigning to take place in Louisiana as candidates scramble for a majority of the delegates.
I wonder if some of those state parties who wanted to try and be more important (and by doing so broke the rules and lost delegates) are now rethinking their choices.
I just wonder why we need to have primaries and caucuses on different days. In my opinion, they should all be on the same day. In the age of the internet, there is no reason (other than laziness and the embracing of the politics of old) why voters cant go online to learn all they need about every candidate and make an informed decision. There is no reason why New Hampshire voters should be more important than Louisiana ones in the selection process.
