I absolutely understand what the religious right acknowledges and what they leave out. I have dealt with them for a very long time and I especially had to deal with them when I campaigned on the northshore when I ran for LA01 in 2004.

My goal is to not convince those who already believe that government should be an arm to advance religion. My goal is to reach those who have yet to be indoctrinated and explain to them why what the extremist right ring says is not just wrong from a moral standpoint, but from a Constitutional standpoint as well.

As I have said before, the religious right only acknowledges the Free Exercise clause, not the Establishment Clause. Furthermore, they do not understand the concept of the "tyranny of the majority" that provoked a reaction against King George and our Declaration of Independence.

Unfortunately, the Republicans have convinced most everyone high enough on the food chain to have a cell phone or a pager strapped to their Sans a Belts that the Republicans are the party of the winners. That Democrats are the party of the "losers."

If you want to convince the religious right of anything, good luck with that. You are a tallow-legged cat chasing an asbestos rat through hell.
