Victory for civil rights!
The California Supreme Court just struck down the gay marriage ban! Now there are two states where gay people are not treated as second class citizens.
Domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage, the justices ruled 4-3 in striking down the ban.
Absolutely right. Of course, the California GHEL plan on striking back.
A coalition of religious and social conservative groups is attempting to put a measure on the November ballot that would enshrine laws banning gay marriage in the state constitution.
I hope they fail. The tyranny of the majority should not get to treat people like second class citizens. PERIOD. If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t have one. It is really just that simple.

Although the California Supreme Court in their decisiion said that it did not address the question of whether or not there should be gay marriage, only that they were addressing a point of law, you know that Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Tony Perkins et al had dollar signs spinning in their heads. I wonder how many millions they have raised in the last few days just from this ruling.

Oh, the GHEL are going to be out in force trying to make sure that discrimination is written into the California Constitution just like it happened here.
It just goes to show that we have a long way to go in this country, because the arguments of Robertson, Dobson and Perkins still actually work on people.
