Welcome to Liberty and Justice for All!

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Welcome to my personal political blog. A lot of argument has gone on over some words in the pledge and I feel that we have lost sight of the most important two words in the pledge; for all. Our country was created for liberty and justices, not just for some or for most, but for all. Just because someone is in the majority, it doesn’t give them the right to tell the minority that they cannot live a certain way or that they are somehow “second class citizens”. Our country has a wonderful system of checks and balances that protects the minority from the majority when and if it gets out of hand. Unfortunately, there are people today who think that we are simply a “majority rules” country and that we should just forget the principles that are stated everyday in classrooms across America. Liberty and Justice for all; words to live by.

In this blog you will get opinions on varying issues that affect our country. I lean to the left, but I do have some conservative, small government, qualities as well that should make this blog an interesting read. Topics will be covered from the war, to gay marriage, fiscal and social issues, and everything in between. There will also be some Louisiana issues included since that is where I live. So enjoy yourselves and participate if you so desire.
