Did David Vitter take John Cooksey’s comments seriously?

Charlie Melancon will challenge Serious Sinner!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

It is official. Charlie Melancon will run for the Louisiana Senate race!

The diapers gloves are off now. Vitter will now have a serious challenger in the form of a “blue dog” Democrat. Vitter will now have to not only defend his record in Congress. He will also have to seriously deal with all of the allegations surrounding his acknowledgement of committing serious sins involving the D.C. Madam scandal.

David Vitter better hope this healthcare bill passes. Because once he is out of a job, he will at least have health coverage.

Serious sinner vs Professional Sinner in 2010

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

A while back, people had started a search for a Republican woman in the adult entertainment industry to challenge David Vitter in the upcoming Senatorial primaries in 2010.

In one of Christopher Tidmore’s email updates, he reports that the search is over. Here is a quote from the article referencing the ad that is now looking for campaign workers for their newly found adult entertainer:

Organizers, the ad went on, should be at least 18 years old with two years of campaign experience, or put another way, WE HAVE FOUND OUR PORN STAR, AND SHE NEEDS A STAFF.

I wonder if Vitty Cent himself would be willing to offer her his staff…..

Vitter lone vote against Hillary

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I guess he is trying to play up to his base for his attempt at reelection next year. David Vitter was the lone dissenting Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote against Hillary Clinton. Republican Senator DeMint, while questioning her connection to her husbands charity and the possibilities of getting foreign donations to it, said that she “could become one of the nation’s best secretaries of State to date”.

However, Vitter is not so optimistic. I guess the idealistic Vitter wants someone who agrees more with him on the important issues of the day… but I don’t think Obama will be nominating Eliot Spitzer for any position within his administration.

W.W.V.D.

Update: Vitter and one other Republican (Jim DeMint) voted against her confirmation.

David Vitter and other Republicans are hypocrites on unions!

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Several blogs have already mentioned David Vitter and his comments about how the auto industry problems are caused by the UAW.

Personally, I have never understood the hatred that Republicans have towards unions and the labor movement. Sure, some of them are backed by big business interests who might be able to add some more into their bottom line if those pesky unions didn’t fight for worker safety laws and other laws that make it harder for companies to mistreat their employees.

The hypocrisy comes in because Republicans always bring up two things in many of their political arguments. The Constitution (as if they are the only people who follow it) and the Free Market.

When it comes to the Constitution, the right to form a union would fall under the 1st amendment protection of the freedom of assembly. So if you are against unions then obviously you don’t support the 1st amendment right of workers to assemble. So there is one point of hypocrisy.

And of course, if you believe in a “free market” you would support the ability of people, either individually or in groups, to negotiate labor contracts. If you think that unions coming together as a group and negotiating employment terms for every worker in that group, then you oppose a truly free market…. well either that your you only support a free market when it is convenient for you but not when it is beneficial to others. Again, it is sheer hypocrisy.

And Vitter is just plain stupid if he thinks that bringing labor costs to match Toyota and Honda is an answer. I guess he doesn’t realize that Japan considers healthcare to be a “right” and that American automobile companies have the extra burden of providing healthcare to their employees. Well, he either doesn’t realize it or just doesn’t care about American workers getting healthcare for themselves and their families. I will let you decide which one is more likely.

And, as always, when it comes to Vitter we must ask ourselves “W.W.V.D.“.

Republicans take all or nothing approach

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

In showing how the Republican party does not quite understand the real world, not only did the Republicans affirm their quest to obtain a constitutional ban on abortion, they also removed the reductions of abortions from their party platform.

So let me get this straight. The party who claims to be pro-life and wants to protect embryos is only caring about criminalizing abortion and not worrying about reducing their numbers? How is that for not being genuine?

Republicans also affirmed their hatred of homosexuals by continuing their support to ban gay marriages. I am sure that marriage defenders David “who would Vitter do” Vitter and Larry “toe tapping” Craig will be leading the battle charge on this one. I’m shocked they are not calling for both a return to Jim Crow laws and a constitutional amendment to keep women in the kitchen and out of the voting booth. Could the Republican Party be any more archaic?

Cross posted at Barack Obama for President.

So Vitter’s “serious sins” happened to pertain to a business that was ruled to be a prostitution ring.

Just sayin…
